EPA Region 9 Issues a Request for Proposals for a Pilot Project to Recycle
Refillable Pesticide Containers

On June 30, 2010, the U.S. EPA Region 9 issued a request for proposals to conduct a pilot pesticide container collection event in the San Joaquin Valley of California to collect intermediate bulk containers (IBCs, sometimes called minibulk containers) and recycle them.

Containers that cannot be recycled due to their condition will be properly disposed. Because this is a pilot project, the contractor will also consider and present to EPA ways to establish a more permanent, sustainable approach to collecting and recycling IBCs, and how this approach may be used in other parts of the country. On July 15, 2010, EPA amended the request for proposals to change the period of work, to require a work plan to be submitted, and to extend the deadline.

Proposals are now due by the close of business (Pacific Time) on July 28, 2010.

For more information about the request for proposals, see http://www.epa.gov/oamreg02/region9/RFQ-CA-10-00004/index.htm
